e-STAS is a Symposium of Technologies for Social Action and Citizen Empowerment and it was born to go further with to the activities Fundación Cibervoluntarios did at the World Summit on the Information Society (2003-2005) in which we want to highlight something essential: the work to promote social and digital inclusion is a multistakeholder and international work. Also we consider indispensable collaboration and teamwork.
e-STAS is just the meeting point of all those who work to make new technologies a tool for social inclusion and innovation, a real working space in which we promote the exchange of best practices, innovations and experiences as well as networking with the aim of generating a process of knowledge and generation of projects and, first of all, to generate innovation through new technologies with the common goal of empowering people.
What are we talking about?
We are going to speak about "Innovation for citizen empowerment through new technologies". It is essential that people discover how to use new technologies to promote citizen empowerment. We want to maximize the rights, opportunities and capabilities of each person within their environment through the use of new technology tools and applications that are available for them.
We will discover different initiatives made by people, social groups, NGO, companies, governments, universities... all kind of situations resulting from technological and social innovation. If you have one, do not hesitate to come.
What do we do?
During the 2 days of e-STAS 2011 there will have lectures, conferences, debates, workshops… around the topic of the event “"Innovation for citizen empowerment through new technologies."
Maybe you may have to forget some classic events, e-STAS is an inclusive and participative event, so we are looking for activities that maximize the exchange of knowledge and experiences, we want to contribute to with new knowledge and, for this, it is not enough that the attendees stand at their chair just listening, the use of a powerpoint presentation is forbidden, people is first ;-). If you come you will have to be a main character of the event, you will not be silent, you will have to share :-) and join the "program" that is generated at the real time.
This year is the fifth edition of e-STAS and we will celebrate it with an important new element: the EMPODERA AWARDS for Innovation for Citizen Empowerment through New Technologies, the first awards at the international level on this topic. You can find out more by clicking here.
In addition to these "formal" activities we have other more relaxed so that all attendees could known each other, cultural and leisure activities to generate other spaces that allow other forms of sharing.
